What to expect

Delivered in the Philippines by LuxeTrust, this intensive takes you from the fundamentals of diamond identification to the grading decisions dealers make every day. You will work with real stones and professional gemological tools, learn how the 4Cs drive value, and practise the checks that separate natural diamonds from lab-grown stones and convincing simulants.

You’ll leave able to

• Identify natural, lab-grown and simulated diamonds with a repeatable process
• Grade stones using the 4Cs and explain how each affects value
• Use professional testers, loupes and gemological tools correctly
• Spot common substitutes, treatments and misrepresentations
• Negotiate and appraise with the confidence of a trained evaluator

1. Diamond fundamentalsFormation, optical properties and why diamonds behave differently from every other gem.
2. Natural, lab-grown and simulantsHow each is made, where they appear in the market, and the tell-tale signs of each.
3. The 4Cs in practiceCut, colour, clarity and carat weight — graded hands-on, with the value impact of each.
4. Professional toolsLoupes, thermal and multi-testers, and when a result can and cannot be trusted.
5. Detecting substitutesMoissanite, cubic zirconia, coated and treated stones — and how they are passed off.
6. Assessment and case studiesGraded practical exercises on real stones, reviewed with your instructor.
